“And one who strikes his father or his mother shall certainly be put to death.”

* * *

‘If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall certainly be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother, and has brought his own death upon himself.”

* * *

A wise son makes a father glad,

But a foolish son is a grief to his mother.

* * *

Listen to your father, who fathered you,

And do not despise your mother when she is old.

Buy truth, and do not sell it,

Get wisdom, instruction, and understanding.

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice,

And he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

Let your father and your mother be glad,

And let her rejoice who gave birth to you.

* * *

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may turn out well for you, and that you may live long on the earth.
